This report is designed to inform you about the water quality and services we deliver to you every day. Our goal is to provide a dependable supply of drinking water to our customers. Brighton Township Municipal Authority is a water purveyor, purchasing 100% of its water from Vanport Township Municipal Authority. We are committed to customer service and insuring the quality of your water. We want our customers to be informed about their water quality. You may attend our regular Monthly Meeting scheduled on the third Monday of each month at 8:00 P.M. at the Municipal Building located at 1300 Brighton Road. The Brighton Township Municipal Authority routinely monitors for constituents in your drinking water according to Federal and State laws. The following table shows what constituents were detected during the period of January 1st to December 31st for 2019. In the table are terms and abbreviations you may not be familiar with. The Chlorine residual is monitored at each location when the sample is taken. The Chlorine residual readings are averaged each month. The high and low residuals are listed at left. Parts per billion (ppb) or Micrograms per liter (ug/l) One part per billion corresponds to one minute in 2,000 years or a single penny in $10,000,000. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) The “Maximum Allowed” (MCL) is the highest level of a contaminant allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology. Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) The “Goal” is the level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLG allows for a margin of safety. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL) The maximum permissible level of a disinfectant added for water treatment that may not be exceeded at the consumer’s tap without an unacceptable possibility of adverse health effects. MRDLs are defined in milligrams per liter (part per million) unless otherwise specified. Required Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) Statement Addressing Lead in Drinking Water “If present, elevated levels of lead can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in drinking water is primarily from materials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. Brighton Township Municipal Authority is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, but cannot control the variety of materials used in plumbing components. When your water has been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If you are concerned about lead in your water, you may wish to have your water tested. Information on lead in drinking water, testing methods, and steps you can take to minimize exposure is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline or at www.epa.gov/safewater/lead .” Pennsylvania DEP Consumer Confidence Report Data – Valid Violations Generated by PADWIS Compliance Runs for 2019 for BRIGHTON TOW NSHIP MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY (PWSID: 5040017 – COMMUNITY, ACTIVE, Observations: 2 eFACTS site ID: 442028) According to the information here, our system had no violations. Consequently, we are proud that your drinking water meets or exceeds all Federal and State Requirements. ** In 1989 Vanport Township Municipal Authority found Trichloroethylene in the ground water supply. Westinghouse Electric Corporation constructed two air stripping towers to remove this constituent before it becomes drinking water. Construction of these towers was completed and online in February 1990. Since that time, the system is maintained and operated by the Vanport Township Municipal Authority staff. The testing indicates the constituent is within the MCL levels established by the Federal and State agencies. For more information call the USEPA and Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791 . Brighton Township Municipal Authority is constantly monitoring the water supply for various other constituents. According to the information here, our system had no violations; consequently, we are proud that your drinking water meets or exceeds all Federal and State Requirements . All sources of drinking water are subject to potential contamination, either naturally occurring or man made. Those constituents may be microbes, organic or inorganic chemicals, or radioactive materials. All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least a small amount of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate the water poses a health risk.
