Put yourself in the shoes of a retail loss prevention manager. Your senior management needs to establish a policy and procedure for handling the shoplifters that your staff apprehends in the store. Assuming that all ORC cases (those with multiple items clearly being intended for resale) will be aggressively prosecuted, what is your recommendation for all of the other cases?
Will you recommend prosecuting all incidents? Will you be selective, and if so what criteria will you use? Do you feel it is a waste of time to prosecute at all? Post your suggested policy!
Explain your logic! Those who work in retail may use their experience. Those in local law enforcement can also give the police viewpoint. No real right or wrong answers here, just an exercise in critical thinking.
