Unit 1 Assignment: Assess Your Assertiveness

In order to work effectively in a group, it is important to know what
skills you and others bring to the team. In this Assignment you will
determine one skill that can be useful for contributing ideas and moving
the members of a team forward towards a goal.

When working with a group of people, how assertive are you? Take the
Assertiveness Assessment Form 9.1 in the textbook on page 229 (SEE ATTACHED).

Assertiveness:

Choose the best-fit response for each of the four questions in the
assessment. Once you have chosen one response per question, support your
choices with real-world experiences either from the workplace or other
group-related situations.

The paper should be 2–3 pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. Use the current edition APA format, and citation style.

Assignment Checklist:

• Complete the Assertiveness Assessment.
• Demonstrate your degree of empathy with the positions provided in the four questions. Explain.
• Describe how you, as a leader, address issues in an assertive,
  responsible, and focused manner. Provide examples from your real-life
  experiences supporting your response.
• Describe where you might be able to improve your assertiveness.
  Provide examples from your real-life experiences to support your
  assertion.
