organizations rely on pre-selection assessments as part of the
selection process. Assessments often measure the personality,
motivation, and values of applicants. Despite the wide-ranging use of
such tools, there is still a debate on the appropriateness of
incorporating pre-selection assessments in the hiring process. Review
articles by Kantrowitz,Dawson, & Fetzer (2011) and Yei-Fang Lin, and
Kleiner (2004) in addition to other related readings.
After reading the supplemental article, answer the following questions in a 2 page essay:
- Based
on your knowledge of the major personality theories, why would an
employer elect to use personality profiles in the interviewing process? - Given your knowledge of personality theories and testing, is this practice ethical or meaningful? Explain your answer.
